Press Release

Tina Kim Gallery is excited to participate in the 2020 iteration of the Frieze Online Viewing Room with a thoughtfully curated selection from our unique and deeply international program.

This virtual installation will include works by Ghada Amer, Davide Balliano, Tania Pérez Córdova, Gimhongsok, Ha Chong-Hyun, Suki Seokyeong Kang, Kim Yong-Ik, Lee Seung Jio, Minouk Lim, Park Seo-Bo, and Kibong Rhee.

In our effort to stay connected with our artists and audience, the gallery has curated a series of videos as a part of our new digital programming efforts. These videos vary between artists from the gallery program working in their studios, to comprehensive virtual exhibition tours, and videos previously produced and shared by partners. We present this series of videos in conjunction with our selection of artworks for Frieze Online Viewing Room. We are excited to share this unique digital experience with you

Check out our presentation in the Frieze OVR for a closer look at works by Suki Seokyeong Kang, including large-scale installation 'Square See Triangle,' which was installed at the Buk-Seoul Museum last year.

Spanning across a variety of media, Kang's engaging and thoughtful works explore the nuances of space, drawing from deep research into the sociopolitical elements of ancient Korean court dances and its relation to practices of musical notation. Her sculptures often include practical elements, such as wheels, implying a hypothetical range of motion or a practical functionality. Though deeply abstracted, her sculptures remain imbued with a sense of the uncanny anthropomorphic.
