Suki Seokyeong Kang’s (b. 1977, Seoul) research-driven practice spans across media, incorporating sculpture, painting, video, installation, and performance, as she investigates the power and politics of space. The different media cross-pollinate in Kang’s works, as sculptures in the space appear and are carefully activated in her videos or performances. Her work often incorporates Korean handwoven mats called “hwamunseok,” breathing fresh life into the traditional local craft.
