Kwon Young-Woo (1926 - 2013)'s works explore the relationship between traditional materials and abstract expression. The artist is considered a pioneer in Korean abstract art known as Dansaekhwa. He enrolled at Seoul National University‟s art school as a member of its first class with a major in Oriental Painting in 1946, and also earned a Master of Fine Arts from the same school in 1957.
During the campaign Tina Kim Gallery Presents: Doctors Without Borders, Tina Kim Gallery will donate 100% of net proceeds from the sale of limited edition collectible tea towels to support Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)’s COVID-19 response. These special editioned objects are printed on fine quality cotton and feature images of works by the gallery’s unique and international roster of artists--Ha Chong-Hyun, Park Seo-Bo, Kwon Young-Woo, Kim Yong-Ik, Suki Seokyeong Kang, Davide Balliano, Kibong Rhee, Kim Tschang-Yeul, Lee Seung-Jio, and Ghada Amer. Each piece is an edition of 100 and comes unframed.
